Surface Diamond Drill Supervisor

Apitipi Resources Limited Partnership works with operating mines and the logging industry in the vicinity of, and abroad, the Apitipi Anicinapek community. Job Description

The Diamond Drill Supervisor shall coordinate the activities of assigned diamond drill projects to achieve a safe, productive, and cost-effective operation. The Diamond Drill Supervisor directly reports to the General Manager, ensuring the safety of his crew and the efficiency of their performance.

Duties and Responsibilities
Specific tasks will include but are not limited to:

Supervise crews to ensure their responsibilities and duties are completed in a satisfactory manner and in compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards, and in compliance with legislative requirements.

  •  Be aware of and follow all applicable legislation and safe work procedures

  • Ensure that all personnel in his/her charge have the appropriate training and/or instructions to carry out their work in a safe and productive manner

  •  Take progressive disciplinary measures for the violation   of any of these rules

  •  Warn his/her crews of any potential or actual danger to     health and safety

  •  Correct or otherwise address reported sub-standard   conditions or work practices

  •  Use personal protective equipment and safety devices as required

  •  Work in a manner that will not endanger self, others or the environment

  • Ensure Emergency Response Plans are developed for assigned projects and are communicated   to the crews

  • Ensure that communication equipment is available and functional at assigned drill sites

  • Communicate clearly with crews, Mining Director, and client representatives

  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with the client representative on site

  • Encourage workers to share ways of improving health and safety at the worksite

  • Ensure drill sites are kept clean and orderly

  • Make sure that oil, fuel waste, and matting are removed from the drill site in a timely manner

  • Confirm that all Drillers/Assistants perform all required pre-operation checks

  • Be available to staff for questions, direction, and concerns

  • Conduct formal performance appraisal at the end of employee probationary period and every six months after. Coaching and informal performance reviews should be ongoing.

  • Complete incident reports and WSIB forms as necessary

  • Complete Dailys

  • Completes drilling reports and inspection reports

  • Prepares new drilling sites

  • Moves drills

  • Create and manage staff Rosters

  • Perform inspections and maintenance on rigs/equipment

  • All other tasks related to the position as needed

Qualifications
  • Surface Diamond Drilling Common Core certificate.

  • Generic First Line Common Core Certificate for Supervisors.

  • More than 5 years experience in the field of drilling

  • Valid Driver’s license

  • Resourceful and Independent

  • Computer skills

  • Leadership skills and a great motivator

  • Ability to plan, organize, and control activities under your responsibility.

  • Be in good physical shape.

  • Bilingualism is an asset but not mandatory.

We are currently hiring for the following positions:

AZ Truck Driver

Apitipi Anicinapek Trucking Ltd. works with operating mines and the logging industry in the vicinity of, and abroad, the Apitipi Anicinapek community. Our mission is to identify, develop and maximize business opportunities and partnerships that grow individuals, our culture, and our community.

Job Description

Will drive truck and trailer to haul logs and/or float equipment in a safe and efficient manner to designated company locations

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Applies knowledge of commercial driving and skill in maneuvering vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations such as inclement weather, or in tight loading/unloading areas off highway and private dirt roads

  • Abides by all company, DOT, Provincial and Federal transportation safety regulations

  • Ensures load is properly secured and weight is evenly distributed on truck and trailer. Checks binders and wrappers to ensure load is secure

  • Inspects tractor, trailer and equipment for defects and safe operating condition pre and post trips as applicable. Also, when stopped during the workday

  • Submits driver’s daily vehicle inspection report, no later than the end of each day

  • Perform basic preventative maintenance to ensure fluid levels and tire pressures are maintained

  • Maintains records required for compliance with Provincial and Federal regulations including driver’s logs, records of fuel purchases, mileage records and other records required by law, or by company standards

  • Ensures that all shipping documentation (bills of lading, weight tickets etc.) required to move with shipment are available for inspection

  • Reports all accidents/incidents involving driver or company equipment immediately to Supervisor

Qualifications
  • Completed truck driving school with a minimum of one year experience; or a minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Class AZ Drivers License

  • MOT Drivers Abstract and Insurance Abstract

  • Negative results for Fit to Work Test (company will register for test)

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure or legal manuals

The Diamond Drill Operator shall affect and monitor the activities of a diamond drill operation in a productive manner that is safe for self, others, and the environment. The Diamond Drill Operator directly reports to the Diamond Drill Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Effect activities of a productive and cost-efficient diamond drill operation.

  • Use personal protective equipment and safety devices as required.

  • Work in a manner that will not endanger self, others or the environment.

  • Be aware of and follow all applicable legislation and safe work procedures.

  • Correct or otherwise warn other workers and report known unsafe conditions or work practices to Diamond Drill Supervisor.

  • Communicate clearly with Diamond Drill Helper, cross-shift crew and the Diamond Drill Supervisor.

  • Share ways of improving health and safety at the worksite.

  • Be familiar with developed Emergency Response Plans and know how to operate communication equipment.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrate successful completion and recertification, as required of the following training:

    • Common Core for Surface Diamond Driller Skills - Runner level (Program #P770200)

    • Propane Training - PTI Course # 400-01 Connection and Use of Construction Heaters up to 400,000 BTUH

    • St. John Ambulance or equivalent - Standard, Level-C First Aid

    • Fall Arrest Training on SRL equipment

    • Lockout Training

    • WHMIS

  • Demonstrate a positive personal attitude and good communication skills with co-workers, supervisors and client representatives.

  • Conduct yourself within the high standard of behaviour expected from a representative of (company).
